Two young lovers had an accident. When they woke up in the hospital, the guy found out that the girl had no eyes.

Months passed, the guy left her because he was discouraged to have a no-eye gf.

After a year, the girl died in despair. They guy went to her burial and saw a letter on top of her coffin. The letter was for him… It says:

“Take care of my eyes. I love you so much.”

Making A Difference March 24, 2006

Enjoy – and remember the humility of life.

What would you do? You make the choice! Don't look for a  punch line;  There isn't one! Read it anyway.

My question to all of you is: Would you have made the same  choice? At a fund-raising dinner for a school that serves learning  disabled  children, the father of one of the students delivered a  speech that  would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he  offered a  question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything  nature  does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot  learn  things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.  Where is the natural order of things in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query. The father  continued. "I  believe, that when a child like Shay, physically and  mentally  handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize  true  human nature presents itself, and it comes, in the way  other people  treat that child." Then he told the following story: Shay and his father had  walked  past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing  baseball. Shay  asked,"Do you think they'll let me play?"

Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want  someone  like Shay on their team, but the father also understood  that if his  son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed  sense of  belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in  spite of  his handicaps.

Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and  asked if  Shay could play, not expecting much. The boy looked around  for  guidance and a few boys nodded approval, why not?

So he  took  matters into his own hands and said, "We're losing by six  runs and  the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our  team  and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."

Shay  struggled over to the team's bench put on a team shirt with  a broad  smile and his Father had a small tear in his eye and warmth  in his  heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being  accepted.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a  few runs  but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth  inning,  Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even  though no  hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in  the game  and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father  waved to  him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored  again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential  winning run  was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat. At  this  juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance  to win  the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat.
Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible 'cause Shay  didn't  even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect  with the  ball. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher,  recognizing  the other team putting winning aside for this moment in  Shay's  life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so  Shay could  at least be able to make contact.

The first pitch came and  Shay  swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few  steps  forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch  came in,  Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right  back to the  pitcher. The game would now be over, but the pitcher picked up the  soft  grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first  baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been  the end   of the game.
Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the head of  the  first baseman, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone  from the  stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay, run to first!  Run to  first!"

Never in his life had Shay ever ran that far but made it to  first  base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and  startled.  Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching  his  breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and  struggling  to make it to second base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right  fielder had  the ball, the smallest guy on their team, who had a chance  to be  the hero for his team for the first time. He could have  thrown the  ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood  the  pitcher's intentions and he too intentionally threw the  ball high  and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead  of him  circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, "Shay,  Shay,  Shay, all the Way Shay"
Shay reached third base, the opposing shortstop ran to help  him and  turned him in the direction of third base, and shouted,  "Run to  third! Shay, run to third"
As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams and those  watching  were on their feet were screaming, "Shay, run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as  the hero  who hit the "grand slam" and won the game for his team. That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling  down his  face, the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true  love  and humanity into this world."
Shay didn't make it to another summer and died that winter,  having  never forgotten being the hero and making his Father so  happy and  coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her  little hero  of the day!

AND, NOW A LITTLE FOOTNOTE TO THIS STORY:

We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a  second  thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life  choices,  people think twice about sharing. The crude, vulgar, and  often  obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public  discussion about  decency is too often suppressed in our schools and  workplaces.
If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances  are that  you're probably sorting out the people on your address list  that  aren't the "appropriate" ones to receive this type of  message.
Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can  make a  difference. We all have thousands of opportunities every  single day  to help realize the "natural order of things."
So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people  present  us with a choice: Do we pass along a little spark of love  and humanity  or do we pass up that opportunity to brighten the day of  those with us  the least able, and leave the world a little bit colder in  the  process? A wise man once said every society is judged by  how it  treats it's least fortunate amongst them.
 You now have two choices:
 1. Delete
 2. Forward

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a  single moment before starting to improve the world." – Anne Frank

I’ll Never Look at my Hands the Same Again March 23, 2006

Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. She didn't move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands.

When I sat down beside her she didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if she was OK.

Finally, not really wanting to disturb her but wanting to check on her at the same time, I asked her if she was OK. She raised her head and looked at me and smiled. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," she said in a clear strong voice."I didn't mean to disturb you, grandma, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK," I explained to her.

Have you ever looked at your hands," she asked. "I mean really looked at your hands?"

I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point she was making.

Grandma smiled and related this story:
"Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life."They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor. They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child my mother taught me to fold them in prayer.
They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots. They held my husband and wiped my tears when he went off to war.
"They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and
bent. They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son. Decorated with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They wrote my letters to him and trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse.

"They have held my children and grandchildren, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand." They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body. They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken, driedand raw.

And to this day when not much of anything else of me
works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down,
and again continue to fold in prayer.

"These hands are the mark of where I've been and the
ruggedness of life.
But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home. And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there Iwill use these hands to touch the face of Christ."

I will never look at my hands the same again.
But I remember God reached out and took my grandma's
hands and led her home.

hen my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke theface of my children and husband I think of grandma. I know she has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God.

I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel His hands upon my face. When you receive this, say a prayer for the person who sent it to you and watch God's answer to prayer work in your life.

Let's continue praying for one another. Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend will bless you both.
Passing this on to one not yet considered a friend is
something Christ would do.

The book of Revelations tells us  "… These are the
words of Him who holds the seven stars [leaders] in
his right hand and walks among the seven golden
lampstands [church]…
I hold instruments like pens, utensils, comb, etc. in
my right hand, probably you do too.  He holds us in
His right hand as His 'instrument'; He has something
for you to do, so submit to and stay in His grip.
Love,
Aquilles

Subject: Security Advisory / Hold-up and Abduction

Last February 05,2006 Paul Garcia Ramos( Sykes employee based in RS ) was held-up and abducted for 5 hours .

It was a Saturday around 7:45 AM, and he was on his way home waiting for a taxi cab infront of Teazann( Tea House ) Valero Street near Mini Stop convenience store at the back of Robinson's Summit when a man in jacket approached him , ask what time it was, and without warning punched him on the left cheek. Another man came from behind, pointed a gun at his back, announced a hold-up and told him not to resist. The other man signalled a car waiting near Mini Stop to pick them up. The car was an old, rusty copper-colored Beetle Volkswagon( 70's model ) with heavy tint . The Beetle only had a drivers seat and a back seat ( the front passenger seat was removed ).

Once inside the Beetle, he was sandwiched by the two men at the back seat. Paul noticed foils used as drug paraphernalia and liqour bottles scattered inside. He also saw a bagful of mobile phones, one ingram assault weapon and three revolvers. The three barely spoke in Tagalog and used a local dialect Paul could not comprehend. When Paul would ask a question, the two men would elbow him and tell him to shut up.The men took his wallet and driver's license and ask him to withdraw from his ATM account. The car went in circles along Makati area for hours. Paul was asked to alight in one of the ATM machines located in Buendia and he withdrew the remaining savings from his account. The two men did not go into the machine area probably to avoid the ATM's CCTV camera. At around 1 PM , he was released by the group at EDSA corner Buendia and given fifty pesos ( Php50.00 ) for his transportation home .

According to Paul's description, the three men were between 25- 27 years old, wore maong and slacks and were in decent polo shirts( Paul perceive them as belonging to the middle income group). The three were between 5'9"- 5'10" in height. Two of them were about 170-180 pounds, while the other one weigh only about 120 pounds. From their conversations, Paul heard the three call each other by the following names: Raymond, Alex, and Boyet .

The plate number of the Beetle( NDX 189 ) was traced to a Toyota FX vehicle (asian utility van ) registered in SouthCotabato.

Again, we reiterate that there is nothing safer than looking after one's personal safety by being security conscious and vigilant.

Sure Y’ Wanna Fly? March 21, 2006

Occasionally, airline attendants make an effort to make the “in-flight safety lecture” and their other announcements a bit more entertaining.

Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported:
Misc. Annoucements:

“Your seat cushions can be used for floatation, and in the event of an emergency water landing, please take them with our compliments.”

“We do feature a smoking section on this flight; if you must smoke, contact a member of the flight crew and we will escort you to the wing of the airplane.”

“Smoking in the lavatories is prohibited. Any person caught smoking in the lavatories will be asked to leave the plane immediately.”
Pilot – “Folks, we have reached our cruising altitude now, so I am going to switch the seat belt sign off. Feel free to move about as you wish, but please stay inside the plane till we land… it’s a bit cold outside, and if you walk on the wings it affects the flight pattern.”
And, after landing: “Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride.”
As we waited just off the runway for another airliner to cross in front of us, some of the passengers were beginning to retrieve luggage from the overhead bins. The lead attendant announced on the intercom, “This aircraft is equipped with a video surveillance system that monitors the cabin during taxiing. Any passengers not remaining in their seats until the aircraft comes to a full and complete stop at the gate will be strip-searched as they leave the aircraft.”
Once on a Southwest flight, the pilot said, “We’ve reached our cruising altitude now, and I’m turning off the seat belt sign. I’m switching to autopilot, too, so I can come back there and visit with all of you for the rest of the flight.”
“Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Please place the bag over your own mouth and nose before assisting children or adults acting like children.”
“As you exit the plane, please make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses.”
“Last one off the plane must clean it.”
And from the pilot during his welcome message: “We are pleased to have some of the best flight attendants in the industry… Unfortunately none of them is on this flight…!
Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard landing in Salt Lake City: The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, “That was quite a bump and I know what y’all are thinking. I’m here to tell you it wasn’t the airline’s fault, it wasn’t the pilot’s fault, it wasn’t the flight attendants’ fault…..it was the asphalt!”
Overheard on an American Airlines flight into Amarillo, Texas, on a particularly windy and bumpy day. During the final approach the Captain was really having to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant came on the PA and announced, “Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what’s left of our airplane to the gate!”
Another flight Attendant’s comment on a less than perfect landing: “We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal.”

A couple of rough landings
An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a “Thanks for flying XYZ airline.”
He said that in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for this little old lady walking with a cane. She said, “Sonny, mind if I ask you a question?”
“Why no Ma’am,” said the pilot, “What is it?”
The little old lady said, “Did we land or were we shot down?”
**********
After a real crusher of a landing in Phoenix, the Flight Attendant came on with, “Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Captain Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt up against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we’ll open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal.”
And One Last Announcement…
Part of a Flight Attendant’s arrival announcement: “We’d like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you’ll think of us here at US Airways.”

This is one good commentary from a Catholic priest unlike the CONFUSING speech around the Catholic Churches being delivered by a certain Bishop that is very much contrary to the stand of most if not allthe bishops in the CCBP.Hindi ko rin maintindihan sa mga pari na nagpapangaral ng OBEDIENCE and yet sila itong unang nagviolate sa napagkasunduan nilang mga obispo sa CCBP.

Fr. Chito Dimaranan is a Salesian Priest, (Don Bosco) kasamahan ng SMC chaplain natin na si fr. robleza.

Dear friends,

I share the sentiments of whoever wrote this. these
are words i would have wanted to pen down myself. It
is sad to note that all this hullaballoo boils down to
only one thing … selfish, manipulative, greedy, and
big-time, dirty old politicians taking the whole
country for a ride!

i ask my readers and friends only one thing … look
at the bigger picture. discern … we cannot allow
ourselves to play into the hands of these
manipulative, scheming politicians, power grabbers,
na ang people power. we need new wineskins for new
wine; we cannot remain with old paradigms. how vain it
is to build a fence by destroying a wall on the other
side (khlil gibran. we cannot miss the forest for a
tree. we need to fight corruption in and out of
government, but we cannot afford to burn the whole
house in the process. i was reminded of a news story
that came out two months ago. a houseowner saw a pesky
rat in his house. sa galit nya, binuhusan ng kerosene
at NASUNOG ANG BUONG BAHAY.

This house, the whole Philippine society, is festered
with rats. They are all over the place not excluding
congress, senate, malacanang, the military, the
private sector (including one well known university),
and… why not? including religious groups and
denominations. the Naia alone is a seedbed of
corruption, as is every city, every town, every
barangay … from top to bottom! but to destroy these
rats, including the one in malacanang, we cannot afford
to burn the whole house, for that would mean all of us
would end up losers.

perspective is what i request from everyone. when we
see the bigger picture, merely shouting in mendiola,
and joining rallies, ranting and railing against
oppression and injustice (whatever that means) and
other forms of inane sloganeering, might not be the
best course of action. L'ottimo nemico del bene …
the best is the enemy of the good. let's face it …
our president is not the best of the lot … but let
him who has no sin cast the first stone. who is the
best? who can these noisy holier than thou personages
that are irredeemably angry at the present leadership
offer as alternative? crispin beltran? liza maza? the
one whose only expertise is to read news written by
other people? the one who obviously is drooling for
the presidency, whose name exactly sounds like he's
drilling and digging for power?

WE all want these rats out of the scene. But
perspective will tell us that mere violent overthrows
never worked and will never work. perspective should
tell us that the solutions of today may end up
becoming the problems of tomorrow.we need to discern.
we need guidance from above. and last thing i
heard, that type of pesky behavior exhibited by rats,
begins in the human heart – the heart of each and
everyone of us. another word for this is SIN, both
personal and social, and lest we forget, "all men have
fallen short of the glory of God." May I add a
memorable poetic line from Hopkins? Referring to the
human heart, he says: "There in your heart is your own
small commonweal. There … rid the dragons; root out
there the sin!"

The tenant in the house by the dirty river may be
guilty of dishonesty and other forms of sin. "a just
man sins seven times a day." but so, too, are all
those who want to stone her, who push and drive her to
declare a state of national emergency, and then
vociferously rant and rail against it. What a shameful
hypocrisy!

I won't bore you any further … here is the forwarded message:

Nung People Power namin nagyayakapan kami lahat nuon.

Sabi nga sa Spiderman "with great power comes great responsibility"….. kaya maging spiderman kayo lahat at protektahan ang mamamayan.

Dinilaan niya iyon, kinagat, pinisil-pisil, nilamas, nilamutak. Nakamit ni Ahmed ang matagal naniyang hinahangad. DON’T EAT TOO MUCH RICE

The human body was never meant to consume rice! You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years. However, our food choices and lifestyle have changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognize our food or way of life.

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that he can eat without treatment with or by fire. He ate fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts and meat. Yes, even meat. You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzymes to digest meat.

However, rice – like wheat and corn – cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you were starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down. We were never meant to eat rice. To make matters worse, we not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of our food.

In some parts of Asia, rice forms up to 85% of the plate. Even if we take rice, let’s keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for our tongue… not our body. Actually, rice and other grains like wheat and corn are actually worse than sugar. There are many reasons:

Rice becomes sugar – lots of it!

This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different form sugar. One bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equivalent of 10 teaspons of sugar. This does not matter whether the rice is white, brown or herbal rice.  Brown rice is richer in fibre, some B vitamins and minerals… but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, we need to consume lots of kangkong… 10 bowls of it.

Rice is digested to become sugar.

Rice can be digested only when it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour… almost as quickly as it would if we took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the “rainbow of anti-oxidants”.

This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilisation of sugar. Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fibre.

The fibre of the kangkong fills us up long before our blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills up our stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, we end up eating lots of “calorie dense” food before we get filled up. Brown rice has more fibre but still contains the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless.

Sugar is sweet. There is only so much that we can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can we eat before we feel like throwing up? Could you imagine eating 10 teaspoons of sugar in one seating?

Rice is always the main part of the meal.

While sugar may fill our dessert or sweeten our coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. We could eat maybe two to three teaspoons of sugar at one meal. However, we could easily eat the equal value of two to three bowls (20 – 30 teaspoons) of sugar in one meal. I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (equals 50 teaspoons of sugar) and then asks fo tea or coffee without sugar!

There is no real “built in” mechanism for us to prevent overeating of rice.

How much kangkong can we eat? How much fried chicken? How much steamed fish? Think about that! In one seating, we cannot take lots of chicken, fish or cucumber, but we can take lots of rice. Eating rice causes us to eat more salt.

As rice is tasteless, we tend to consume more salt… another villain when it comes to high blood pressure control. We tend to take more curry that has salt to help flavor the rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich in salt.

Eating rice causes us to drink less water.

The more rice we eat, the less water we will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice. Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other foods that serve as rice substitutes… like rice flour, noodles and bread. We tend to eat the hidden forms which still get digested into sugar. Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest.

Can’t eat raw rice? Try eating rice half cooked. Contrary to popular belief, rice is very difficult to digest. It is “heavy stuff”. If you have problems with digestion, try skipping rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.

Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals.

Rice when taken in bulk will reduce the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Are you a rice addict?

Going riceless may not be easy, but we can still go riceless. Eating less rice could be a lot easier than we think. Here are some strategies that we can pursue in our quest to eat less rice:

1. Eat less rice – Cut your rice by half. Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises “eating rice like spice”. Instead, increase your fruits & vegetables intake.

2. Take more lean meats and fish.

3. You can even take more eggs and nuts. Have “riceless” meals. Take no rice or wheat at say, breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

4. Go on “riceless” days – Go “western” once a week. Take no rice and breads for one day every week!  That can’t be too difficult. Appreciate the richness of your food. Go for taste, colors and smells. Make eating a culinary delight. Enjoy your food in the original flavors.

5. Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup. You will automatically eat less rice.

6. Eat your fruit dessert before (Yes! No printing error) your meals. The fibre-rch fruits will “bulk up” in your stomach. Thus, you will eat less rice and more fruits.

COLD WATER AFTER EACH MEAL
For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.   It says it is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed.
It will slow down the digestion. Once this “sludge” reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine!
Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.
It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal. :) -
